Abstract: Glenn discusses the possiblity of making a new album and putting it onto the internet in order to get away from the major labels. The Eagles are eager to release a new album under the Eagles Recording Co. label, and already have two new songs to put on it. Henley's Inside Job is also talked about a bit.
A week after they said they might record another album, the Eagles are already talking about releasing the record themselves on the Internet. In an interview, guitarist and singer Glenn Frey said he would prefer to avoid dealing with major labels.
"I would love to see us go away from major labels, and the Internet may make that possible," Frey revealed to the Los Angeles Times. "I'd love to put out a studio album with all new songs on ERC, the Eagles Recording Co."
Frey and Don Henley are writing together again. The Times also revealed that The Eagles have already recorded two new songs after holing up in a studio for six weeks. Looks like another The Long Run, then.
Eagles manager Irving Azoff announced the creation of the Eagles Recording Co. at a press conference during which the Eagles received a special citation for shipping 26 million copies of the album to retailers. At the same time the band had suggested they may make another album.
At the time, Frey said, "We've learned to say, 'Never say never.'"
Eagle drummer and singer Don Henley isn't saying anything about it yet, except he has announced that the year 2000 will see the release of his fourth solo album. It's been more than a decade since 1989's The End of the Innocence.
Henley plans to promote the new, as-yet-untitled record with some solo shows in small theaters. The tour is expected to begin in March.
Rumors persist that the Eagles themselves will tour next year, perhaps in the summer or early fall. Their Hell Freezes Over reunion tour was a popular success. The Californian band will play their revered hits and some of that new material at several shows around the new year.
